EMS E-commerce Capacity, Security, and Compatibility
.
By design, the EMS E-commerce transaction system can adequately handle millions of transactions per month on a single transaction server. The EMS E-commerce transaction system is housed in a state of the art facility with excellent physical security conditions and power backup. Here, it is directly attached to multiple DS3 Internet trunks with complete redundancy assuring the best possible uptime statistics and bandwidth available on the Internet.

On the front end (data received from the Internet on the EMS E-commerce transaction server), data transport encryption is currently RSA certified 40-bit encryption using Secure Socket Layer v2.0 at the very least. 128-bit encryption is also available for merchants requiring it. The system is designed to support the future trends in electronic commerce security, including SET and Open Financial Exchange (OFX), as these technologies come to full fruition. On the back end, (the link between the EMS E-commerce servers and the credit card network), the communications link is a dedicated point-to-point private connection. It is not accessible through the Internet at all.

Why is the EMS E-Commerce protocol so powerful?
What makes our service so much more secure
.

The EMS E-Commerce protocol is not a public key solution such as PGP and RSA. With EMS, each transaction carries its own key, enfolded within it. Which means that even if one transaction is compromised, that information cannot be used to compromise another transaction since each key is unique to each transaction. And it is nearly impossible to break even one transaction, even by brute force techniques.

One measure of security is often taken by judging key space - the bigger the key space the better. To get a sense of the scale of the EMS E-Commerce standard, compare it to PGP or RSA that supports a key space of 2 to the 2048th power.

By comparison, EMS supports a minimum key space of 225 to the 2000th power. That is an almost unimaginable number, comparable perhaps to the number of atoms in the universe! This is part of what makes it so resistant to a brute force attack. It is more likely that you will get struck by lightening once a day for every day of your life than it is for a hacker to compromise our security.

So right from the start, your Webstore credit card transactions are protected by the strongest encryption protocol in the industry.

Because the EMS E-commerce solution can be utilized without the need for separate software or programming on the part of the merchant, it can be used with any computer operating system where access to the Internet and the use of Internet browser software is possible. E-commerce is compatible with any web site that can be accessed on the Internet regardless of the type of web server used to host the website.
